The group of scientists was made up of Doctors Henri Leuvenink, Willem van Son, Martina Schmidt, Jaap van den Born, Klaas Nico Faber, Han Moshage, and Joyce Fongers, members of Groningen University's Medical Center.
First in the visitors' agenda was to meet with the Department of Biological Sciences' highest authorities, such as the Dean, Dr. Juan Correa, the Director of the Center for Aging and Regeneration (CARE), Dr. Nibaldo Inestrosa, the Director of the Graduate Program, Dr. Loreto Holuigue, and CARE's Doctors Carlos Vio and Enrique Brandan.
During their visit, the researchers spoke of the possibilty of stablishing a working alliance between the two university, so as to develop new projects, and facilitiate student exchange. All this in order to one day stablish a PhD program with co-tutoring and double degrees.
At 3:30pm, the group met in private with members of CARE. Activities concluded at 5:00pm, when Professor Jaap van der Born, member of Groningen's Department of Internal Medicine, gave his seminar, "Proteoglycans Shape Renal Inflammation and Repair."
